Vulnerability of indigenous people in the Brazilian Amazon facing climate change

Description: The main goal of this project is to develop vulnerability indicators for Indigenous Territories (IT) based on information on climate, environment, and biodiversity. We will use global climate models and develop models for future distribution of biodiversity and natural resources that are used by some local populations. We will develop an Indigenous Database on needs for living and resource use that incorporates information from different sources, including scientific articles, books, and reports from indigenous organizations. In partnership with the Intercultural Education Program at UFG, we will conduct specific studies on resource use by ethnic groups to assess the potential impacts of climate change. In the end, we will generate subsidies to assist decision-makers about ITs management, plus an educational book to be used by local communities and indigenous schools.
