The Ethnobiology and Biodiversity Lab, following the principles of Intercultural Education, aims to be the place where knowledge from the Natural Sciences and from Indigenous people meet. We believe that biodiversity is the central element of these universes, therefore, it needs to be considered when discussing strategies for the use and conservation of the environment.

Research Interests

  • Ethnobiology and indigenous peoples in central Brazil

  • Intercultural education for teacher training (K-12 levels) in Natural, Environmental and Health Sciences

  • Natural history of Cerrado fauna (emphasis on herpetology, ornithology and mammalogy)

  • Conservation Biology of the Cerrado region (e.g. landscape ecology, ornithology, herpetology, fauna inventories, ecology of populations and communities)
